“Riley has always loved animals, but even I was blown away when he decided to start Animal Savers Inc., a rescue agency dedicated to helping any animal that is hurt, lost or in danger. Riley rescued dogs and reunited them with their owners. He rescued a bird that was hit by a car—it recovered in a day and flew away. The list goes on and on. But there’s one rescue that stands out from the rest. Riley found tadpoles in his grandparents’ pool. The pool was going to be cleaned, and all the tadpoles would die. I thought we could save a jar full and watch them develop into frogs. Riley had different ideas. He spent days swishing a net through the murky pool, hauling up thousands of tadpoles and eggs. Riley ended up raising over one thousand tree frogs! He had to feed them every day and was constantly cleaning their tanks. Once he decided that they were ready to ‘leave the nest,’ he released them into the wild. After the last frog was released, he admitted that it had been an exhausting task. But he said he would do it again because he had saved those frogs from certain death.”
